Android 8.1 Developer Preview

Android 8.1 Developer Preview

Android 8.1 is official: you can download the first preview for developers

A few months ago we finally met Android 8.0 Oreo with all its novelties and, with this new version, the manufacturers began to announce as quickly as possible the terminals that would see that update and the approximate time. With the arrival of the Pixel 2, in addition, Android 8.1 was expected to come with some new features, but finally it was not like that.

However, Google announced that the developer preview of Android 8.1 can now be downloaded in compatible devices and, in addition, the final version we would see in December of this year. If your phone meets the requirements and you are brave enough, we explain how you can have Android 8.1 in its first previous version.

Just a few weeks after the introduction of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, and exactly two months after the announcement of Android Oreo, Google today made official the new version of its operating system: Android 8.1 Oreo.

This new edition corresponding to API 27, is available from today in the form of Developer Preview, and will receive updates within the beta program until the final version, which should arrive next December according to the statements of the great G.

Do not miss our analysis: Android 8 Oreo, in-depth analysis and opinion

The first previous version of Android 8.1 can now be downloaded as a factory image from the official website for Android developers. Google, as always, indicates which devices are compatible with this version:

Nexus 5X
Nexus 6P
Pixel C
Pixel
Pixel XL
Pixel 2
Pixel 2 XL

Those users who are already part of the Android Beta Program - of which Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL still do not benefit - will receive the update via OTA in the coming days. The rest, they will have to install the update package manually, as long as they have an unlocked bootloader. The second preview will arrive in mid-November, and the final update of Android 8.1 is scheduled for next December.

At the moment the list of changes to the full that comes with this update is unknown. However, it is expected that Google has finally enabled the co-processor Pixel Visual Core integrated into their new pair of devices, responsible for enhancing-even more-their photographic capabilities.

Since it is a previous version, it is possible that operating errors could arise. Therefore, only the installation of this update is recommended for advanced users, and on devices that are not used as primary. Anyway, if you want to proceed with the installation of the new version, it is advisable to back up all the data in case something goes wrong.

Open Wonder: Android Oreo Updates

Android Oreo
Android 8.0 Oreo is already official: here's the most amazing news about the new version

Android 8.0 Oreo is the official name that has finally unveiled Google for its new mobile operating system. It is the one we will see in the new smart phones of 2018, and the one that will face iOS 11 as an alternative in the 'Apple world'. It was an open secret and finally, it has been confirmed that as with Android 4.4 KitKat the Mountain View firm has reached an agreement.

Android 8.0 Oreo is already a reality and for that reason, we are going to make a review by all the novelties that incorporates with respect to the previous version and also to tell you when it will begin its landing in the different devices and which will be the first ones that will be able to enjoy it.

Just after the solar eclipse, which has been fully enjoyed in the United States, the Mountain View firm has made an extremely brief direct to unveil the figure that will decorate the entrance of its headquarters. It is the figure of the new version Android 8.0, and is an Oreo cookie with android arms. What it does mean is that the new version of its mobile operating system is called Android 8.0 Oreo.

What's New in Android 8.0 Oreo

With those words is how Google introduces Android 8.0 Oreo, and it is only because of the novelties of this mobile operating system. As explained in the website dedicated to Android Oreo, with this version the devices start up twice as fast - proven in Google Pixel -, and the management of multitasking is notably better because the system is responsible for limiting activity in the background. But that's not all, far from it.

They also tell us, in the summary of new features of Android 8.0 Oreo, that now certain tasks we will do much faster thanks to the Self-loading. It can be used in applications to make the login faster, without having to remember our passwords and usernames. Now, one of the most remarkable news and that also collect here, is that we have PiP -Picture in Picture, to be able to see two apps on the screen with one of them shifted to a corner and in smaller dimensions. For example, use a full-screen app and keep a reserved video call in one corner of the screen.

Notifications and icons changes

The truth is that the new version of the operating system includes many changes, including some that we had long expected. One of the points that have improved the most is almost everything related to the notification system, as it has awarded many improvements in this new version compared to the previous one.

But also with Android 8.0 Oreo has been introduced the system of advanced notifications: is that, in each app, is shown in the upper right corner a point with a numbering corresponding to pending notifications. And if we click it opens a small floating menu in which these notifications appear, and of course, we can access them more quickly. And speaking of applications, and speed, Instant Apps is one of the key points: to use applications without having to install them on the mobile, directly taking advantage of the Internet connection of the mobile.

In Android 8.0 we can discard notifications over a period of time and decide when we want to receive them again. In addition, we can categorize the notifications through channels and you will be much more visual, showing background colors and using a systematized iconography and typography.

Another change has to do with how they will be displayed in the notification bar since now notifications will not be displayed according to their order of arrival, but each will have its own space within it depending on the category to that they belong (calls, updates, reminders ...).

Another notable innovation comes with the icons because in Android Oreo these will be adaptive, being formed by two layers so that the developers can work on them and adapt them to the device so that they can change their design adapting better to the launcher.

Android Go and smart text selection

With this version of Android finally, comes a version for devices with few resources. This is Android Go, a reduced version of Android 8.0 Oreo thanks to which the low range, with fewer hardware resources, will not be unable to show off the latest version of the system.

Another important new feature in Android O is the intelligent selection of text, with which it will be able to deduce what it is that we want to do with respect to the text that we select. That is, if the selected words correspond to an address, Google will suggest that we open Google Maps.

Picture in picture mode, tones, and emoji

With this new version of Android comes the Picture in Picture mode that will allow us to split the screen in two to use two applications at once. In addition, we have another novelty that many will make happy: the possibility of adding our own ringtones and notifications sounds easily from the settings, without resorting to the computer or third party applications.

Of course, another news that has been most talked about and that has finally come true is the complete redesign of the emojis that stop being shaped like a drop to look a little more iOS emojis.

Google Play Protect is another aspect that has emphasized the signature because with this system the Google Play Store will be a safer place thanks to the analysis - with an own 'antivirus' - of the applications available there. And with this version have been introduced, in addition to security improvements, changes that affect autonomy. Without too much detail, Google ensures that with Android 8.0 Oreo will notice a better management of energy that, simply, translates into more hours of use with a single charge.

But ... what could not be missing? Undoubtedly, the emoji. From the hand of Android 8.0 Oreo comes a powerful update for the Google keyboard. In the same have been introduced all the new emoji that correspond to the last version of Unicode. That is, we can now enjoy new forms of expression that were recently approved and, similarly, will soon be available on devices from Apple and Microsoft.

How to Switch From Android to iOS (and Vice Versa)

iPhone
It is very hard to subdue to urge to buy the new iPhone 6s or the new range of Nexus Smartphones. Both of them come loaded with some exciting specs and happen to offer a premium end experience to the end users. Both Android and iOS platform now offer high quality handsets with impressive features; build quality and great experience to the users. Here are some smart ways to make your transition either to the iOS or Android platform without losing your data.

Switch From Android To iOS

Apple has made it easier to migrate the data from the Android device to the iOS platform by launching the ‘Move to iOS’ android app. This app makes it extremely easier and simpler to facilitate the move to the iOS without much difficulty.

Step 1: Download the app

Download the Move To iOS app on your Android phone from the Google Play Store. Now take your iPhone out of the box and initiate the iPhone setup process. It should be noted that this app will work with IPhones which had not be set up earlier. IN case you had already setup your iPhone then perform a factory reset and use this app to migrate data from your android phone.

Step 2: Follow the instructions

Once the IPhone setup is initiated, you will find a “Hello screeen” and a number of prompts will follow it. Follow these instructions carefully to perform a glitch free and safe migration of data to the iPhone. You will soon be greeted with Apps and Data screen where you will find ‘Move Data from Android’ at the bottom of the list of options, select it.

Now on your Android phone fire up ‘Move to iOS app’. Agree to its terms and conditions then you will see ‘Find Your Code’ screen. This ten-digit code will be generated from the iPhone device after you select the ‘Move Data from Android’ option. Enter the code in your Android phone and begin the transfer process.

Step 3: Transfer the data

Transfer of data from Android to iPhone will require a sound W-Fo connectivity and depending on the amount of data, the time span will be determined. A huge amount of photos and entertainment files like audios and videos will mean more time while fewer data will transfer in just few seconds.

Switch from iOS to Android

There is no app available to make the transition from the iOS to Android phone but using the Google account you can make a simple and more efficient transition to Android. Android makes use of the Google account for keeping contact and calendars, sync your iPhone with a Google account by going to the Setting, Mail, Conatacts, Calendars and finally Add Account. Now just enter your Google ID and it will simply sync all your calendar and contacts data within few seconds.

Messages: Use service of iSMS2droid for transferring text messages to the Android phone.

Photos: Download Google Photos app and sign in with your Google account, turn on ‘Back up and sync’ and it will take a while to sync all the photos. Once done you can view photos from Google account on to your Android device.

Over a billion Android Devices Vulnerable to Latest Stagefright Bug

Stagefright_Bug

Billion plus Android Devices at Risk – Stagefright

According to security experts, over one billion Android devices are considered to be at risk from new vulnerability known as Stagefright 2.0.This vulnerability had been discovered by a team of researcher at Zimperium, which is a mobile security firm and is considered to affect almost all Android devices from the first version in 2008.

The new bug had been discovered in Google’s mobile operating system that enables attackers to insert malicious code in deviceto retrieve information when a use accesses a particularly crafted MP3 or MP4.The attack is on the vulnerability in MP3 and MP4 video files which once opened tend to remotely execute code. This could comprise of installing malware, get hold of data for identity fraud or to access photos as well as messages.

Due to the nature of the vulnerability, it would be difficult to tell if a device has been affected. First Stagefright bug is said to leave device susceptible to exploitation with the video sent through MMS that are utilised as an avenue of attack. Since several messaging apps tend to process the videos automatically, there are possibilities of being targeted without being aware of it.

Stagefright 2.0 - Dangerous

Speculations are on that Stagefright 2.0 could also be quitedangerous. Stagefright 2.0 tends to utilise similar avenues in exploiting the weakness, by using MP3 audio of MP4 video files which when opened, the malicious files tends to activate a remote code execution – RCE, providing scope for hackers with the capabilities of remotely executing activities on the device.

This could comprise of media player or messengers besides mining data for identity fraud, installing malware and much more. There are various ways by which a user could be attacked. At first a hacker would try convincing a user to visit a malicious webpage and view music or a video file which would provide the hacker with an opportunity of hacking a user.

Moreover they could also intercept unencrypted traffic from the device and another server which is known as a man-in-middle attack for the purpose of inserting the malicious code in the file which is to get transferred.

Susceptibility is in Processing of Metadata in Files

According to Zimperium in a blog post recently has mentioned that `the susceptibility is in the processing of metadata in the files and hence only viewing a song or a video would help to activate the issue’. Zimperium had also notified the Android Security Team of the problem. Google had mentioned in Nexus Security Bulletin that `vulnerability in media-server would enable an attacker during media file and data processing of a specially crafted file to cause memory corruption and probably remote code execution as the media server process.

The issue is considered as Critical severity due to the possibility of remote code execution as the privileged media-server service. The media-server service has access to audio and video streams together with access to privileges which are normally not accessible to third party apps. Attackers at this point of time are still assumed and users are not yet subjected to the bug.

Google has informed that the vulnerability handled in its monthly security and a fix is likely to be issued in its monthly security update for Android in October with patches for other phones in the pipeline. Besides this Google has also made provision for patches to LG, HTC, Huawei, Samsung and Sony wherein the companies would probably roll out over the next month.

How android is better than the iPhone

android vs iPhone
Android is the one of the leading operating system which is used in most of the mobile phones rather than using iOS. Since apple comes with its iOS devices, people are buying android based smartphones for their day-to-day use. In the field of entertainment, Android is the king which plays various roles in creating innovation among the developers. On the other hand, Apple’s iPhones are class and they are most sophisticated ones which is available in the market. This makes you to get confused which one will be your favorite choice while selecting the devices. The features of android make the android to be a better choice while considering both iPhones and Android mobiles.

1. Storage Memory: The memory capacity of the android smartphones will range according to their hardware features. This allows you to extend your device memory to external storage too; you can extend your storage of your smartphone by using external memory sticks. But this option is not available in the iPhone; the memory capacity of the iPhone is limited since it has only built-in memory. This adds a point to the android devices and you can extend your memory by using external memory stick. Users can easily buy the memory sticks and they can replace one memory stick after another when it gets full of free memory space. Even they can dedicate each memory stick for movies, songs and so on.

2. Multi-Tasking: The process of multi-tasking is very poor in the apple’s iPhone. You can only open a single application at a time. In iPhones, you cannot open more than a single application. If you want to open other applications, you need to close the previous one and then only you can able to open another application in your device. But the android mobiles are totally different, you can open any application as you want until the RAM gets full. This is an amazing feature which is present over the android devices. You can run more than a single application at a time. For example, you can open Facebook Messenger to chat with your friends and at the same time you can minimize it and open another application too. This even adds another point to the android mobiles and devices.

3. Battery: Apple’s iPhones comes with the in-built battery which cannot be removed very easily. In case of any failure, you cannot easily change the battery of the device and you need to take it to the service center. But you can easily change the battery of the android devices. In case of any battery failure, you can easily change the battery by simply removing the case of the android devices. The removable battery in the android devices brings out the android mobile to be the best devices than the iPhone.

Hope you have found the best devices for your day to day activities and you can easily bring out the differences between the iPhone and the other android devices by using these features.

BlackBerry Z10 Features And Specifications -1

Forced by all sides in a market where BlackBerry was nevertheless the second place in the previous years, BlackBerry tries to stop the downward trend of itself with a brand new OS called BlackBerry 10, and two models, the Z10 and Q10. The global market is almost shared by Android and iOS are 70 and 21% respectively, but RIM can still hope to get out of the game by keeping the third place. However, they are trying to resist the thrust led by a Windows Phone Microsoft and determined to break into the crucial Smartphone market. The BlackBerry 10 itself meets the necessary conditions for itself as a viable alternative to operating systems. Let us discuss the few of the salient features of BlackBerry Z10. The body of the device not like that of HTC and is made entirely of good quality plastic.

On the front, the screen is glued to the plastic shell. The unit is turned off; there are only the logo of the manufacturer and the speaker grille. If you look closely, you can notice the light sensor located between the speaker and the screen, a photo / video sensor 2 megapixels on its right and the location of the LED that notifies BlackBerry characteristic of arrival of messages. Under the BlackBerry logo is a tiny slot for the micro. At the top are the headphone jacks and lock button. The latter, gray plastic is located in the middle of the wafer, a position that can be confusing at first, but it adapts very quickly.

On the right spine, there are three buttons, always gray plastic. Both are dedicated to volume control, and the third covered with a strip of shiny metal that can immediately identify the touch, is used to trigger the play / pause music or video. This additional button, which is also found on the iPod nano 7G is very convenient to control music playback without having to leave the Z10 BlackBerry from his pocket.

The left edge of the device reveals the micro USB 2.0 port and micro HDMI. Nothing is there at the lower part of the telephone, except the presence of a slot to facilitate removal of the rear face. The back just is not smooth but slightly textured and provides a pretty nice touch. At its center, the BlackBerry logo is inlaid shiny plastic. Top left is the 8 MP camera and flash.

Some may find the design of the BlackBerry Z10 too plain or boring, but it has the merit of being functional and not suffers any real fault. The iPhone 5 is decidedly more upscale with finer materials, but the BlackBerry device does not have to be ashamed of his finishing is neat.
Further let us discuss more about BlackBerry Z10 in our next post.

HP Slate 7 An Cheap Android Tablet

HP really finished the Slate 7 with the expense of a billion dollars and a few months later, it is presented at the Mobile World Congress, which is a 7 "tablet running Android. Announced the price of $ 169.99, the Slate 7 hardly be distinguished from other tablets 7. It is really cheap: it has a 7" screen FFS 1024 x 600 px, a 1.6 GHz processor double heart, one gigabyte of RAM, 8GB of internal memory expandable via microSD, and a couple of sensors 3 MP / VGA. Most Asian manufacturers offer similar tablets 20 to $ 30 less, it is not the price that can stand 7 Slate.

HP does not overlay on top of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but made a few changes and added a printing application wireless - which is enough to delay updates. Or for just 30 € more, the Google Nexus 7 has a IPS screen, a quad-core processor, and ensuring regular updates. Again, Slate 7 does not shine. In short, the experience ended webOS, HP has returned to simple and proven solutions. But the market has changed since the fantastically Touchpad and Slate 7 bring nothing. The new HP tablet will be available in May.

Android, the puzzle of Google

If Android has attracted the majority of consumers with 50% market share, however, the economic picture is less bright for Google's mobile OS. So that some observers have questioned the relevance of the Google initiative: she would not have done better to stick to a more fruitful partnership with Apple?

Manufacturers routed

If Samsung can boast of record results, the result is much bleaker for others: HTC, however, proposed the first manufacturer to have an Android smartphone sees its sales Business collapse, Acer had a very difficult year 2011, only reviving the profits in the last quarter (its netbooks bear the brunt of the fierce competition of the iPad.

Security: iOS took a big lead on Android

That at least is the conclusion that can be legitimately drawn from the workshop on What about animated Charlie Miller and Dino Dai Zovi during the RSA Conference that took place last week in San Francisco. In short, simple and efficient: it takes at least four to five "exploits" software to successfully install a rootkit on IOS persistent against only two or even one very well made, for Android.

Test Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Galaxy Nexus - III

Android Market: quantity or quality?

iOS however maintains its advantage: its selection of applications. In general, we find the great missed on Android - pretend otherwise would be lying. Some basic applications supplied with Ice Cream Sandwich may even be jealous of IOS users: Google Maps with navigation integrated YouTube client or Gmail on Android are light years ahead of their counterparts on iPhone.

Test Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Galaxy Nexus - II

Multitasking on steroids

In general, the management of concurrent tasks is a strong point of Android, which also strengthens from year to year, while applications are iOS silos with an inlet, an outlet, and a sense of movement well accurate, Android applications can communicate, report and act more freely.

Test Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Galaxy Nexus

In many ways, the Galaxy Nexus is the iPhone 4S Android. It is manufactured by Samsung, became the first manufacturer Androphones through the Nexus S, the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II. And it is equipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of the mobile system of Google, and the first to offer a consistent graphics interface. Real rethinking of Android, the Galaxy Nexus is a device ambitious. But is that enough to convince a user to iPhone 4S? The response in our test!

Android Success Story

It is well known, the union is strength. Similarly the alignment of the PC manufacturers behind the standard Windows platform that has assured its hegemony over the whole computer, many predicted that the scenario happen again with Android and iPhone. In fact, Android's market share exceeded that of the iPhone. But is limited to these percentages would give a very fragmented image of the landscape because the deal is actually quite different from that between OS X to Windows. Undoubtedly, the winner of the Mac-PC war was Microsoft. From the perspective of manufacturers, however, the picture is somewhat more mixed. PC manufacturers have indeed been terribly dependent on Microsoft, and they were not able to differentiate the level of the operating system or its integration with their equipment, they have engaged in a war prices that has left them bloodless.

Latest slogan of Steve Jobs

If sketched recent years, various manuals bloom to reproduce the winning method of Steve Jobs, they obscure the essential ingredient: the man himself. Number of Cassandras have announced the end of Apple with Jobs that of both the man and his company have seemed inseparable, supporting their argument on the dark years of Apple in the absence of Jobs (and conveniently forgetting well the huge difference in context). Without his visionary angel in charge, who may well spur engineers and designers, and push them toward excellence? The error is precisely to try to do without Jobs.

Android 4.0 against 5.0 iOS.

These two main operating systems for mobile devices are experiencing a major update. The revision to the Google OS is perhaps even more important than Apple, if only because it is the first unified version of the system for Smartphones and tablets. It will be interesting to see if this version also manages to give new impetus to the shelves equipped with Android. Anyway, this should make life easier for developers. The Android GUI has been redesigned so as to provide a more consistent user experience on Smartphones and tablets. The key word in this version is sobriety. Google has made sure to make use of its system more enjoyable reworking many details, including animations.
