All you need to know about Apple Card

All you need to know about Apple Card
Apple Card is the new credit card that will be launched by Apple later in the year. The card will be linked to Apple Pay and built into the Wallet App. The iPhone users can sign up for this card.

For the Apple Card, Apple is partnering with Goldman Sachs. It will be linked to Apple Pay and can be used just like any other credit card for all your transactions.

How do you sign up for the Apple Card?

You need to open the Wallet app, tap on the Apple Card interface and go through the activation steps. As soon as you have signed up for the card, you can use it for digital purchases. However, there will be a pre-qualified application process which needs to be done. Based on your credit approval, you will qualify for the card.

In the event of traditional purchases, you need to have the physical Apple Card.

How to use Apple Card with Apple Pay?

This credit card works with any credit or debit card that is stored in the Wallet app for use with Apple Pay. The credit card could be set as the default card for online purchases on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. It could also be used for in store purchases on your iPhone.

How to use Apple Card for Non-Apple Pay purchases?

If you need to make purchases that cannot be made with Apple Pay, then you need to use the physical Apple Card. The physical card will be sent by Apple when you have signed up for it.

Besides partnering with Goldman Sachs, Apple will be in collaboration with Mastercard. The physical card can be used wherever Mastercard is accepted.

The physical Apple Card

This card is made from titanium. It is laser etched and has your name on it. The front of the card does not have a card number or expiry date. The back of the card does not have the CVV number nor the signature. In the eventuality of your card getting lost or stolen, no one can use it for making online purchases.

On the card, however, there is the usual magstripe on the back along with the built-in chip. This is used for making chip and pin purchases. In case you need the CVV number and card number, you can get it from the Wallet app.

Once you receive your physical card, you can activate it by tapping it to the iPhone. The physical card does not support contactless payments. You need to use your iPhone for Apple Pay payments.
You do not need to pay for the Apple Card and there is no fee for getting a new card in case you lose it.

The employees of Apple are provided with Apple Cards for testing purposes, before its launch in the summer.

There is a credit limit for the creditcard. It will vary from person to person depending on the credit score.

You can pay your Apple Card balance through a linked bank account or Apple cash in the Wallet app.

Apple’s next iPhone comes with a new Touch ID

Apple’s next iPhone comes with a new Touch ID
According to a patent granted, Apple’s next iPhone will feature a new Touch ID method. The new Touch ID method allows the users to unlock the device by placing the finger anywhere on the screen. This Touch method could be available on Apple’s next iPhone which is scheduled for a September launch.

The patent known as “Methods of Biometric Imaging of Input Services” was discovered by Patently Apple. Though the patent was filed in September 2016, it was announced to the public only recently.
The new Touch method allows users to unlock their device by either placing their finger, cheek or ear anywhere on the screen.

The facial recognition technology was seen with the launch of iPhone X in 2017.

Apple’s next iPhone with fingerprint reader

The new Touch method which is slated to be launched in Apple’s next iPhone describes this latest system. The fingerprint reader is embedded in the display which is in the front of the device.

When you place your finger anywhere on the screen, you will be able to unlock your phone. This will then enable you to make payments and even enter your password by just touching the screen.

According to the patent, the iPhone maker is even looking at other possibilities of the sensors unlocking the device. Besides the finger, the sensors could recognize the user’s ear or cheek to unlock the iPhone. This could be expected in Apple’s next iPhone.

The traditional Touch ID method was seen in the iPhone 5S.The fingerprint reader was under the home button which was at the bottom of the device.

Cool Features of Apple's next iPhone

With the advent of Apple’s newer iPhones, the maker has embraced edge-to-edge display design. With the result, the home button was replaced by gesture-based controls as well as Face ID, the facial recognition technology.

This latest Touch ID method allows Apple to maintain the bezel-less screen design. Apple’s next iPhone will allow users to unlock their devices by touching anywhere on the screen.
According to the patent, there is an Acoustic imaging system that enables the sensor to capture the fingerprint of the user.

This is fairly accurate as compared to optical scanners. In an optical scanner, the photo of the user’s fingerprint is used as reference point.

The Acoustic imaging system captures high resolution texture maps of an object. Every tiny detail including the ridges in a fingerprint as well as scars are picked up.

Apple’s next iPhone will not be the first to release with this technology. This has already been available in the Samsung Galaxy S10 where an in-display fingerprint reader is used. This technology is also seen in Huawei Mate 20 and the OnePlus 6T.

This new Touch ID slated to be launched in Apple’s next iPhone, will offer its customers a very useful feature. Even though the Face ID feature is good, it is more convenient to unlock the device with your fingerprint.

Apple had patented its in-display reader in August, so this idea has been there for quite a while.

Apple AirPower- The Epitome of Wireless Charger

Apple AirPower
Apple launched its Apple AirPower to cope up with the mess that comes up with charging cables of your AirPods, iPhone as well as Apple Watch. Well, it is nothing but a wireless charging pad with a goal of getting rid of the hassles of the wires. Apple revealed the AirPower at the iPhone X event but never provided with the enough details. After the span of a year, Apple killed the project.

In a press statement, Dan Riccio, senior Vice president of hardware engineering department of apple, killed the AirPower project officially. He said that, “After much effort, we have concluded it will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward.”

What do the rumors say about Apple AirPower?

According to some recent rumors, it has been observed that AirPower can come back to the board. Some tweets by Steve Troughton Smith claimed he has heard that the AirPower has been fixed. Another tweet by the ChargerLabspecified that a ‘credible source’ informed that Luxshare Precision (who manufactures apples AirPods and USB-C cables) again started the manufacturing of the Apple AirPower.

Discussion on the working principle of Apple AirPower.

Well, to use the AirPower, all you have to do is to place the pad on the desk or wherever you want, if you want to charge your device. After that, you have to plug it into a power outlet. Next, you just have to place your device into it with the front of the device facing up and then your device will start charging.

Well, let us understand the technical aspects a bit more. It uses the process of induction where an electromagnetic field is utilized for the purpose of transferring power to the device from the Apple AirPower. The time, when you are placing your device in the AirPower, it is receiving signals from it. If everything goes accordingly, you will witness the charging of your device.

Almost all the devices of apple are compatible with Apple AirPower. Be it iPhone, Apple watch or the AirPods, you can charge them in Apple AirPower. There are few exceptions, which will not work with the AirPowerby apple. In case of iPhone, only iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are compatible with the AirPower. Similarly, you can only charge the Apple Watch Series 3 with the help of an AirPower. Again, you can also charge your AirPods with it but you have to make sure that you have the new case of AirPods, which was announced in the new iPhone X event.

These are the facts that you need to know about Apple AirPower. Now, it is the time when we have to examine that whether apple is going to bring back the Apple AirPower or not. Only time will decide the future of it.
