Android 4.0 against 5.0 iOS.

These two main operating systems for mobile devices are experiencing a major update. The revision to the Google OS is perhaps even more important than Apple, if only because it is the first unified version of the system for Smartphones and tablets. It will be interesting to see if this version also manages to give new impetus to the shelves equipped with Android. Anyway, this should make life easier for developers. The Android GUI has been redesigned so as to provide a more consistent user experience on Smartphones and tablets. The key word in this version is sobriety. Google has made sure to make use of its system more enjoyable reworking many details, including animations.

Google has revised a number of functional elements such as a pitcher. Applications can be grouped in a folder. Widgets, for their part, can also be resized. But the proposal is most interesting for Google probably multitasking. Instead of offering a toolbar rather impractical as is iOS or the metaphor of a deck of cards as webOS, Android 4 to list the applications you've used recently, takes an interface to the Time Machine.

Google has also improved its virtual keyboard including a wizard that helps correct your mistakes. Function digital dictation has been its review. It offers a new method that allows leaving the microphone permanently open in order to transcribe text or a long conversation. Among the extras added by the Internet giant to its system, we note a finer control over the data plan. It is possible to know the applications that use the DATA and possibly the curb. For example, over a period of one month, you can tell the system to notify you if Google Maps has used more than one gigabyte of data and to cut the data if it exceeds the threshold of 2 GB

In addition, Android 4 was designed to be used without a physical button and loads a new font specially designed for HD displays. The main software that comes with the OS saw a lot of changes. Thus, the web browser can synchronize your bookmarks with Google Chrome, includes a new tab system and features a JavaScript engine 50% faster. The Contacts application has also been revised from top to bottom. Now called the "People" and its operation is based on the integrated module to Mango. The system will draw information in social networks in order to complete your forms. Visual Voicemail, Gmail (better management of off-line, fast response) and calendars have also known a number of improvements.

The application of picture taking has also been revised from top to bottom. This version facilitates the creation of panoramas; image stabilization provides real-time offers continuous auto-focus and supports the zoom during video production. It will be possible on the other hand taking a picture while recording video. We note in passing that it is (finally) can easily take screenshots.

Other new "significant", note the addition of a facial recognition system that allows you to unlock the phone with your face. Good on paper, but perhaps not yet fully developed. This demonstration was a failure during the presentation of Android 4. This version is also able to apply effects in real time to the Photo Booth.

On the other hand, when the only NFC to take off, Google has developed an application around this technology to facilitate trade. Beam Android will allow users to exchange documents in seconds, applications, files by connecting their terminals. Finally, with this version, Smartphones and more will benefit from advances in Honeycomb: new notification system, support for HTTP Live streaming, support for keyboard, mouse and joystick.
