Many of us lose or misplace pretty much anything. It may be the keys of the house, the remote controls or even your smartphones. There may be several occasions where you have either misplaced your iPhone or it may have slipped out of your pocket. In the eventuality of your smartphone or iPhone being misplaced, the first thing to do is call the number. The bigger problem that arises is when the iPhone has been switched in Silent mode, then finding the “silent” iPhone could be a problem.

Sometimes, the iPhone could be on “silent” mode or “do not disturb” mode. Finding your “silent” iPhone could be very daunting for some. However, there is no need to worry anymore. All is not lost!!! There is an easy method of finding your “silent” iPhone or the iPhone that is switched in the Silent mode or ‘Do not disturb’ mode.

If you are a regular iPhone user, then you must be aware of the ‘Find my iPhone’ feature to help in tracking the iPhone that is lost, misplaced or even locking the lost iPhone.

But the “Find my iPhone” feature is also used to make your iPhone ring when it is in Silent mode or even in the ‘Do not disturb’ mode.

The “Find my iPhone” is an app that is very handy in the eventuality that you have lost or misplaced your iPhone that is switched in the Silent mode. This app makes your iPhone ring even when it is in vibrate or silent mode or even the Do not disturb mode.

The method of finding your “silent” iPhone


There is an app known as ‘Find my iPhone’ on icloud.com. When you use that app, you will be sending an alert signal to your iPhone that will help you locate your device. Apple will basically override the ‘silent mode’ that your device has been switched to. A loud beeping will be heard on your device, thus making it easy to locate your device.

How the alert signal is triggered is still not very clear.

There are a few things however, that need to be noted to enable you in finding your ‘Silent” iPhone.
The most important thing is that you should have enabled the ‘Find my iPhone’ in settings under iCloud. To do that, you first need to go to iCloud, then Settings and when you scroll down you will see the ‘Find my iPhone’ which needs to be enabled.

Another handy tip is to turn on the ‘Send Last Location’. This data will automatically be uploaded to Apple just before the battery dies.

There are two important things that need to be done prior to your iPhone being lost. The first pre-requisite is you need to make sure your iPhone has been connected to the internet. The second is to make sure that your iPhone has the “Find my iPhone” feature enabled in the Settings in iCloud. There are various steps you need to follow for finding your “silent” iPhone.

The steps you need to follow in order to enable you in finding your “silent” iPhone 


Finding your “silent” iPhone can be done either from your PC or Mac, your Apple Watch or iPad.

Finding your “silent” iPhone with the help of your PC or Mac

There are basically three steps you should follow for finding your “silent” iPhone.

First, you need to visit www.icloud.com either on your PC or Mac. Then log in by entering your credentials. Then click on the ‘Find my iPhone’.

In the second step, you may need to enter your Apple id and password. A map will appear, showing all the Apple devices where the ‘Find my’ feature has been enabled. You need to click on ‘All devices’ which appears on the top.Clickon your iPhone from the list of devices.

Then we come to the third step. The next screen that appears will show the location of your iPhone on the map. On the map that appears on the right, you will get a 3D representation of the location of your iPhone. The tracking options for your iPhone will also appear on the top right hand corner of the screen. There will be the ‘Play Sound’ option that will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click the ‘Play Sound’ and if your iPhone is connected to the internet, this will trigger your iPhone to send out alert signals.

If you have a speaker or a boom box, then you need to first call your iPhone. Have a long cord attached to the speaker, so that you can go all around the house to track your device. The speaker may make weird sounds and when the sound gets louder, it will be an indication that you are somewhere close to your iPhone. If the sounds are not as loud and less frequent, it means that you are moving away from your device. Hopefully, the loud and frequent sound helps you in finding your “silent” iPhone.

Tracking the direction of the sound will enable you in finding your “silent” iPhone.

Once you have located your “silent” iPhone you can turn off the sound.

Finding your “silent” iPhone can be done with your Apple Watch


For this to work, you do not need the ‘Find my iPhone’ to be enabled in the iCloud settings.

In case you have an Apple Watch, then you will notice an iPhone ping feature built in.

Firstly, the Control Center needs to be opened. You can do so by swiping up from the bottom of your Apple Watch.

Next, click on the ping iPhone icon that is built in the Apple Watch.

In case the battery of your iPhone is dead, then use the ‘Find my iPhone’ app to enable you to at least see the last location.

Finding your “silent” iPhone by using your iPad


In the case that your iPad is connected to the same Apple account, then you can click on the “Find my iPhone” option. Next click the “Play Sound” option. This will trigger your iPhone to send out alert signals which will enable you in finding your “silent” iPhone.
