iOS 13 Public Beta: How to Get Your Hands on the latest Public Beta?

iOS 13 Public Beta
September 10th is the day when Apple plans on launching iPhone 11 and with that the final version of iOS 13. For iPhone users iOS 13 is the OS to wait for. iOS 13 promises to bring speed improvements, updates to many built in apps, a new dark mode, besides others. It’s no surprise then why many would like to get their hands on the newest beta already.  If you’re interested in learning how to install iOS 13 public beta then keep on reading… iOS 13 public beta was made available shortly after it was announced in early June.

By June 24th many developers could take a look see at what the newest iOS has in store. The early 24th June release was way before schedule. Apple besides other tech companies normally release the public beta version of an OS before its official release to solve any bug related problems the OS may bring. After the public beta release there are a number of updates till the official release to cure the iOS of any bug related malady.

So coming back to iOS 13 pubic beta, the OS has had some seven updates till now with the seventh update just being rolled out. While developers get their hands on the 8th version, the public is given to try out the older one. Long story short, the earlier version of iOS 13 public beta was way too unstable to install. Now since users can get their hands on the seventh version, it is presumably a little more safer to install, that is by not turning your iPhone into a brick.

At this stage you will have less bugs to contend with, there may still be some minor issues that may occasionally pop up. So there are two options on the table, either wait for the official bug free release in September or install iOS 13 in its public beta garb right now. If you just can’t seem to wait for the September release, then there is a way in which you can install the latest version of iOS 13 today.

But Should You Download iOS 13 Public beta?

There are two betas- the developer betas and public betas. The major difference lies in who you are. By that I mean if you’re a – non-developer - user then the Public Beta, is deemed fit enough to install by Apple.

That being said, you may not have the headache – phone – stopping – app – crashing – bugs – around but you may still run into the average bug. Yes, even in spite of the 7th update. If you’re dependent on your phone for a lot of important stuff, who isn’t, then you might want to give iOS 13 public beta a skip.

Another option is that if you have a backup iOS device then you might want to try and install the beta version there first. No matter what you decide on doing, rule of thumb- always keeps a backup of your data in case things don’t go as planned. Now to, is your Device Compatible with iOS 13?

iPhone 6s users and above will be able to install the latest iOS. This includes iPhone SE as well. The newly released seventh generation iPod touch too can run the update. All iPhones released in 2015 won’t be able to see the light of a new software update. Coming to the iPad, Apple has made the iPad run its own OS which is now currently on iPad OS 13 4th public beta.

Finally, How to Install iOS 13 Public Beta?

To get iOS 13 installed you need to first enroll in Apple’s Public beta. To do so, head on to the Beta program page and log in using your credentials aka Apple ID and password. Once you agree to the terms, follow these simple steps to get started.

These steps will install the iOS 13 profile onto you’re device and then the install will begin. Under the getting started page, tap on the link to get your device enrolled onto the beta version of iOS 13. Once this is done you’ll be directed to the profile download page, where you just have to click on the download button.

On your iPhone you’ll be asked if you would allow the profile to be installed. Click on allow, because that’s why you’re here for anyway, and get things started. After this you need to head on to the settings app on your phone to enable the profile you just installed.

On the settings app you’ll see a notice saying that a profile is ready to be installed. Then tap profile downloaded. Once this is done at the side of the profile you just downloaded, click on install and follow the prompts to restart your phone. When the phone restarts the beta will automatically start downloading.

If you’d like to check the progress of the download, you can to do so in the same way you would a normal system update by looking at the General sub menu in Settings. If iOS 13 Public Beta isn’t up your alley and for any reason you would like to return to your older version then you can do so by pressing on the remove profile button in the General tab.

Getting the Latest Version of iOS 13 Public Beta?

Once you’ve installed iOS 13 public beta onto your phone, the next step is to get the latest version of it installed. This you can do by simply heading on to settings and then the General tab. Once there simply tap on Software Update and you’re done.

You’re iPhone will check whether you’re software is up to date and if not will prompt you to install the latest version. Then it’s a simple question of following the onscreen prompts to install the latest version of iOS 13 public beta. As mentioned earlier Apple plans on releasing iOS 13,that is the official version, along with its latest iPhone 11 at a special event to be held on September the 10th.

iPhone 11 to be launched by Apple

iPhone 11
Smartphone case maker ESR has leaked out the names of the smartphones to be launched by Apple. Apple is likely to name its flagship smartphones as iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. These names are leaked by ESR just a few weeks ahead of the launching of the Apple iPhone lineup.

What do we know about iPhone 11 Series?

Apple has not given any information on its official channels. Based on the labels ESR has used for the cases, we can anticipate these names for the Apple iPhone lineup. ESR has used the branding for its leather cases and screen protectors. They are confident of the names Apple will be using for their smartphones that will be launched in a few weeks.

The case maker, ESR is aware of the design of the three smartphones. The design from the front will be simple and similar to the earlier smartphones. The back will come with a triple lens camera in a square design. The square bump is not too attractive, but they may spring a surprise of extra capability like a wide angle lens.

Through some leak, the iPhone 11 series may come in black, white, gold and dark green shades. Some models may have a rainbow finish.

Though they have made guesses regarding the names of the smartphone series, they may not be totally accurate.

The iPhone 11 will be the successor of iPhone XR. It is most likely to come with a 6.1 inch LCD display and a dual rear camera.

More about  New iPhone

The iPhone 11 Pro will be the successor of the iPhone XS. It will feature the 5.8 inch OLED display along with a triple rear camera.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max will feature a 6.5 inch OLED display. It will be the successor of iPhone XS Max. This smartphone along with the iPhone 11 Pro is tipped to have a square camera bump with a triple camera module.

The iPhone 11 may be launched on September 10. This information was based on the seventh trial iOS 13 version which was released for developers. An image in the system files suggest the launch date of iPhone 11 as September 10.

The next gen iPhones can be expected to be powered by the A 13 chip. The A 13 chip is the successor to Apple’s A 12 Bionic chipset.

The SoftBank President Ken Miyauchi accidently let out that the new iPhone models will go on sale on September 20.

The new iPhone 11 series will probably have a slight upgrade. There may not be any amazing changes or upgrading in the iPhone 11. There may be some smart features for charging and probably 5G.

The iPhone 11 price could start at $999. Considering that there will not be any significant change to the design and functionality, a price hike is highly unlikely. With leaked news that Apple will not be selling as many iPhones as previously forecast, they will be affordably priced.

RASMAN Bug: New Bug to Watch Out for

Windows RASMAN Bug
Windows 10 users might need pest control or in technical terms a “fix” for what is now a newly discovered bug called RASMAN or Remote Access connection Manager bug. The bug seemingly affects only the version 1903 of Windows 10 and not any older versions.

What does Remote Access connection Manager or the RASMAN bug Do?

RASMAN basically is a software that manages VPNs and Windows connections to the outside world or to the more commonly known internet.

The bug will consequently affect this part of Windows functioning. Microsoft even went on their support page and said that RASMAN would stop working and an error “0xc0000005” will be displayed. It has also been noted that this bug seems to be seen only on PCs where the VPN is pegged as always on or “AOVPN” instead of manual only VPN connections.

A Fix for the RASMAN Bug in Store?

Microsoft says that they are working on a fix as we speak or as I type and will most probably be available later this month.

At present there are no real estimates of the range of this bug. But according to Forbes the number of users affected could range in the 50 million range.

Who’s Affected by the RASMAN Bug?

The RASMAN bug only affects user’s VPN connections. The bug was first discovered in the recent Windows 10 May 2019 Update. Remote Access Connection Manager typically runs in the background to ensure smooth functioning for the always – on – kinda – VPN. Besides the always – on variety, even VPNs with dial up connections may be impacted.

There are many people worldwide who use a VPN connection, so the number of users affected is likely to be huge. Running in the millions.

Besides getting the error mentioned by Microsoft, you may also see error in the application section in windows Logs coming with Event ID 1000. This will reference an error “svchost.exe_RasMan” and you may also see “rasman.dll”.

As mentioned earlier only users with an always on VPN connection will be affected. So, this is most likely going to affect users in enterprises or in countries subject to strict government control or high levels of censorship.

A Workaround?

There is also a workaround for the issue by tweaking a few settings. First you have to go to Computer configuration, then Administrative templates. When there, go on to windows components and then data collection and preview builds. There choose allow telemetry and then change the value of safe policy to enabled and set it to either 1 which is basic or 2 enhanced or 3 full.

The alternate route involves the registry file. If you’re someone comfortable with doing this then locate the value for SubKey

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Policies>Microsoft>Windows>dataCollection and then you can change the telemetry settings to 1, 2 or 3 depending on whether you want it as basic, enhanced or full.

If, however you don’t like messing around with registry files or group policy settings then you can always wait for the Windows fix.

Sodin Encryption Ransomware: New Ransomware Found

Sodin Encryption Ransomware: New Ransomware Found

Top security firm- Kaspersky recently discovered a new ransomware that seemingly targets a known Windows flaw to get elevated privileges. Encryption Ransomware Sodin as the ransomware has come to be known, takes advantage of the architecture of the CPU to avoid anyone from discovering it. This is something that is not commonly seen in ransomware.

A top Security researcher up at Kaspersky also said that it’s not everyday that they get to see ransomware that was so elaborate and sophisticated. As mentioned earlier the whole using – of – CPU Architecture – to – avoid – detection is not something that encryptors normally do.

Number of Attacks Expected with Encryption Ransomware Sodin:

Experts expect a rise in the number of attacks involving ransomware- sodin. They say this as it is an extremely sophisticated system that involves a lot of resources to create. No encryptor is going to go to all that trouble and money, not to mention, to create a ransomware without any chances of a huge pay off.

Areas Targeted by the Ransomware- Sodin:

This ransomware has targeted many countries of the world with a spat of the ransomware being seen in Asia. Countries such as Taiwan have been detected with 17.6% of the total attacks and with a 9.8% in Honk Kong. Add to that an 8.8% in the Republic of Korea, and the total comes up to 36.2% in Asia alone. These are just those figures that have been discovered at present.

Asia is not the only the continent to be affected too. Europe, America and Latin America have also reported cases of Sodin.

Besides simply affecting the system, victims were also to pay up $2500 worth of Bitcoin to free up their systems from the control of Sodin.

More about Sodin:

There was an earlier vulnerability known as CVE-2018-8453 which was used by a hacking group known as FruityArmor. However, this vulnerability was patched on the 10th of October 2018. It was this vulnerability that is used by Sodin to gain control of a user’s PC.

How to Avoid Getting in the grasps of  this ransomware:

To ensure that you don’t fall a prey to the ransomware- Sodin, make sure you’ve got the latest in software updates on your PC.

Kaspersky researchers also said that by having security products that made regular assessments on vulnerabilities as well as giving patches would help solve problems such as these.

CyberArk have tested Sodin and have found that it can’t get through to Endpoint Privilege Manager’s feature set. The set is a combination of least privileges, application control policies on end point and servers and credential theft protection. CyberArk has tested millions of samples of various ransomware to better understand the infection and how to remove it.

Based on this research, the system is able to identify all known ransomware. For those that it does not have any prior knowledge about, it marks as suspicious and protects information accordingly.

This means that if one end point becomes infected the rest are protected from an organised attack.
