How to Merge PDF Files Mac?

How to Merge PDF Files Mac
You may have found yourself in a situation where you’re left with multiple PDF files. The problem is you need to merge them into one whole document, so how do you go about doing that? In this post we’ll be taking through some of the ways in which you can learn how to merge PDF files Mac. We’ll be showing you how to merge PDF files using built in tools and online tools as well.

How to merge PDF files Mac using the Preview Option:

Preview happens to be a hidden bonus when it comes to MacOS. Not only can you edit images or sign documents with it but you can also merge files using it as well. This is besides performing some basic PDF related editing, by the way. Isn’t it a handy tool? Oh and did I mention it’s completely free. You don’t have to shell out money for buying a dedicated PDF editing app either.

With the preview feature in tow you can add multiple files of the PDF genre and even files from other categories as well into one single folder. So if you’re interested here’s how it works…

  • In the preview app open the PDF file that you need to edit

  • Make sure you can see the thumbnails option on the side bar. If not just click on the sidebar and on the thumbnails options.

  • You’ll then see a list of all the pages in the document.

  • Go to the menu option and press on edit. From there go to the insert option and click on “Page from File”.

  • The preview app will ask you to choose a PDF file. Navigate the folder till you find the required PDF file. Click on open.

  • After these steps you’ll be able to see all the pages of the second folder added to the first PDF file. To confirm this you can check the page count at the bottom of the preview application.

In cases where you don’t want the whole file but only certain pages of it you can use the same method. We’ll show you how…

  • Open the required PDF files in two separate preview folders. Keep them side by side to work on.
  • All you have to do now is to click and drag the required pages into the original PDF file. This you can do from the thumbnails section. Repeat the process till you have all the pages that you want in your original PDF file.
  • Finally it’s onto saving the file. Simply go to the File section shown in the menu bar and click on “Export as PDF”. All you have to do now is to save the file under a name and choose a destination. Press save and you’re done

Using Online tools in learning how to merge PDF files Mac:

There are always online tools to use if you don’t want to use the preview option. Simply go on to your web browser and select a merge PDF tool. From there on, you’ll simply have to choose files that you want merged and the application will get it done for you.
